Freitag, 27. November: LIVE: Whole Voyald Infinite Light (UK)

Filed under: Programm — josef at 12:22 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009

WHOLE VOYALD INFINITE LIGHT is the duo of Jon Collin and Infinite Light.

Infinite Light is connected to a line of activity, centred in Manchester, as the guitar and voice to the trio Axis Mundi with flute and percussion duo of Part Wild Horses Manes on Both Sides, as a guitar player in free-rock band Stuckometer, and motorik moe tucker style drumming in improvising modal drone trio Beach Fuzz.

Jon Collin is the guitarist with Manchester six-string duo Serfs with Tom Settle of Beach Fuzz, and trans-pennie harmonium and guitar duo Vampire Blues with Sheffield centred Jon Marshall of the Hunter Gracchus.

The Whole Voyald Infinite Light is a collaboration with no pre-configured music, modal intuitive improvisation, centred around the interaction of Jon Collin’s guitar playing, reverbed into oblivian fire music styled solos, majestic slide guitar, and searing feedback, and the unsettling falsetto singing and meditative chordal guitar phrases of Infinite Light.

Reviewers have drawn comparisons to the atmospheric solo guitar work on Neil Young’s Dead Man soundtrack and the music of pioneering american guitarist Loren Mezzacane Conners.

Freitag, 4. Dezember: LIVE Meaghan Burke (US)

Filed under: Programm — josef at 12:09 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Drawn by a deep-seated subconscious fetish for the Sound of Music, Vienna choir boys, and beefy men in lederhosen, Meaghan and her cello left the wilds of New Haven, bypassing the bustle of New York only to find their way to Vienna, which they have not yet succeeded in leaving. After being flagellated by herself, conservatory teachers, and various dead Austro-Germanic men for most of the day, she finds it necessary to release her own angst through inappropriate uses of her cello with such projects as Primordial Undermind, Cheating on NY, and her own ditties, exercises in stolen melancholy and manic multi-tasking which tell tales of loves lost, found, and eaten alive by bedbugs.
